An IBCLC is the highest-level credential for healthcare professionals specializing in the clinical management of breastfeeding. IBCLCs are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, Inc.
Strictly speaking, the formal title "Lactation Consultant" is reserved for those who hold the IBCLC credential.

Of course! Every breastfeeding journey is different. Your previous experiences do not dictate how your body or baby will behave this time. If you faced issues like latching difficulties, low supply, or mastitis previously, getting support early (ideally from the 2nd–3rd trimester) equips you with strategies to prevent those issues from recurring.
-
The first few days and weeks are a vulnerable period. I recommend having your first session as soon as possible so that doubts can be addressed early. Prevention is always better than cure! This ensures you and your village are better equipped to care for your baby.
-
We will first feed the baby! We start with a breastfeeding assessment to see how you and baby are doing and address your specific concerns. I will provide hands-on suggestions to improve the feeding and clarify any doubts you have.

Follow-ups ensure that the care plan is working well for you. If you purchased the 4th Trimester Support (2 sessions) and find you do not require a follow-up for current issues, you can utilize the second session later for a Back to Work Consultation.
